Hi! I am Nicolas Remy, founder of The Underwater Club

Hi! I am Nicolas Remy, founder of
The Underwater Club

I’m a professional underwater photographer, brand ambassador for Mares and Nauticam, and chair of the jury for the prestigious DPG Masters competition. My images have earned over 40 international awards and have been published worldwide, both in print and online. You can browse more of my work at www.nicolaslenaremy.com

All this came from spending more than 2,000 hours taking photos underwater, and many more figuring out my equipment, experimenting with lighting, reading books and watching tutorials of varying quality.

It doesn’t have to be that hard. I created The Underwater Club so you can learn from my experience – through structured, concise online courses you can follow at your own pace.

But The Underwater Club is much more than a set of courses. It’s a friendly community of passionate underwater photographers, where you, I and others share knowledge, exchange feedback, and grow together, united by our love for the art of underwater photography.

YouTube is an fantastic resource, packed with free tutorials on photography and filmmaking of all kinds. But underwater photography is a highly specialised niche field, and not every creator offering advice has deep, real-world experience.

Because the niche is small, no underwater photographers can make meaningful income from YouTube views alone. Most creators who are truly skilled use YouTube primarily to promote something else: a trip, a piece of gear, or their own services. That means the information you get is often selective or incomplete, because these photographers have their own courses or workshops to sell.

The Underwater Club is different.

We don’t have anything else but our courses to sell, so we made sure they are comprehensive and crystal clear and genuinely useful — they are the real deal.

Besides, YouTube lacks the structured learning paths: you could spend countless hours sifting through videos, only to find fragmented and inconsistent information. Our courses are meticulously organized to cover all essential skills, including those you might not realize you need. If you’d like a sense of what that looks like, Check out our course map and masterclasses for inspiration.

Ultimately, the real question is: what is your time worth?

Yes, you can learn underwater photography piece by piece through YouTube, but it’s slow, uncertain, and often requires many dives of trial and error.

If you value efficiency and want clear, reliable guidance from day one, The Underwater Club offers exactly that — plus access to human support through our member forums and live Q&A sessions.

No problem at all — we genuinely don’t want anyone paying for a membership that doesn’t suit them.

If you choose the yearly plan, you get a 7-day free trial. You can explore all our Courses, Webinars, and Forums, and if you decide it’s not for you, simply cancel within those 7 days and you won’t be charged.

Prefer the monthly plan? If you cancel within the first 7 days, just send us a message afterwards and we’ll refund your first monthly payment. No questions asked.

Explore our interactive course map, where you can click on the 7 courses (orange labels) and 40 lessons (the white labels) for a short description. For more details, click the link included in each Course description, to access a free Course introduction video.

Visit our Events page to see upcoming & past Club Webinars (Members can re-watch past webinars too). We also run Virtual Coffee Chats every month (a chance to ask your questions live to Nicolas Remy and socialise with other Members from around the world).

Absolutely! The Underwater Club welcomes Members from all experience levels.

For beginners, we recommend starting with our Introduction Course.

If you are new to photography in general, you should also check our Underwater Camera Settings course, which will teach you how to take more control, or even full control, of your camera.

Besides the courses, use our Club Forums and Virtual Coffee Chats to connect with other Members from around the world, and with our resident photo pro Nicolas Remy.

Keep an eye out for our monthly webinars too, we host masterclasses on a range of topics, inviting some of the best underwater photographers from around the world as speakers.

Short answer: yes! Some of our Club Members are award-winning photographers.

Long answer: whilst you already master some of the skills taught within our extensive curriculum (40 lessons), our monthly, interactive webinars cover exciting subjects relevant to seasoned underwater shooters, and a Club Membership gives you free access to these.

Besides, giving and receiving photo critiques in our Forums is both enjoyable and beneficial at any stage of a photographic career.

You’ll also like taking part in our virtual coffee chats (2 to 3 per month), a chance to connect with like-minded Members from around the world.
