There’s no substitute for hearing first-hand from someone who’s been there, dived that—especially when they share your passion for underwater photography, and care for the same things when it comes to dive travel.
In this special webinar, three members of The Underwater Club took the stage to share their recent dive trips, with each talk crafted to help you decide whether that destination is right for you. These aren’t just travel diaries—they’re photography-focused reports covering underwater highlights, ideal subjects and lenses, visibility conditions, topside logistics, and even accommodation and travel tips.
Watch the recording to see their favourite images, learn what worked (and what didn’t), and hear honest reflections on what it was like to photograph there. Whether you’re looking to plan your next photo adventure or simply want to be inspired by new locations, these reports are packed with insights that only another underwater photographer would think to include.

East Africa (Lake Malawi and Tanzania)
Meet your speaker
Dr Elodie Camprasse is a marine ecologist, science communicator, underwater photographer, and passionate advocate for the remarkable marine life of Australia’s Great Southern Reef. Originally from France, her love of the ocean began when she learned to scuba dive as a teenager.
After working in a French subantarctic territory studying seabirds and marine mammals, Elodie moved to Australia to complete a PhD in seabird ecology and soon fell in love with the country’s unique coastal biodiversity. Her work spans marine ecology, citizen science, human–wildlife interactions, and nature connection.
With over a decade of experience in the not-for-profit sector and tertiary education, Elodie enjoys sharing stories through talks, workshops, media, and photography that inspire curiosity, connection, and appreciation for nature.

About Elodie's Trip to East Africa
In December 2025, Elodie has journeyed in Eastern Africa and had a chance to dive locations seldom, let alone heard of, by most divers.
Lake Malawi is the 9th largest lake in the world, and is home to more fish species than any other lake in the world. It borders Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania, and is nicknamed the “Lake of Stars” due to the twinkling lanterns of local fishermen at night.
She then continued to Tanzania, exploring three very different marine destinations: Mafia Island, Pemba Island and the semi-autonomous Zanzibar archipelago, where colourful reef complemented the rich cultural atmosphere of the historic Spice Island.

Meet your speaker
Julie Jones is an Australian nature photographer, scuba diver and ocean advocate based on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Her work explores marine ecosystems throughout Australia and the Indo-Pacific, including Palau, Indonesia and Fiji. From intricate macro life to sharks, turtles and vibrant reef scenes, her images reveal the beauty and diversity of the underwater world. Following a career in research, marketing and leadership, Julie now combines photography and storytelling to foster a deeper connection with nature and inspire appreciation and protection of our blue planet.

About Julie's Trip to The Great Barrier Reef
In January 2026, Julie visited Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, aboard the well-known dive operator, Mike Ball. From the perspective of a first-time liveaboard diver, Julie will share thoughts on the layout and organisation of the boat, the voyage itself and the amazing creatures and seascapes of the sites visited. “From drone to macro, there are so many beautiful locations to explore and photograph, and some wonderful new dive buddies to meet!”

Meet your speaker
Stephanie J. Doniger, MD is a Pediatric Emergency Medicine physician by profession, and underwater photographer by passion. She became a diver in 2001 and a PADI Divemaster in 2009. To marry her two passions, she is currently in the process of obtaining the Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine through the Wilderness Medical Society.
Stephanie is an award-winning photographer and recently received recognition as “Emerging Ocean Geographic Photographer.”
Through her underwater photography, she hopes to use visual storytelling to share this magical world… and help to protect it for the future. While she has traveled worldwide to dive and take underwater photos, focusing on warm, tropical waters. Her all-time favorite location is Misool, Raja Ampat Indonesia and agrees with Alex Mustard, PhD, who describes it as “Heaven on diving earth.”

In fact, Stephanie has visited Misool 6 times, including 3 stays at Misool Eco Resort. Her most recent trip was Dec 2025/Jan 2026 and whilst her presentation will mostly focus on wide angle photography, she will discuss briefly the Macro life there.
