One year later, Alex Mustard returned as a guest speaker to talk all things competitions, with TUC Founder Nicolas Remy. Alex and Nicolas got together to discuss their favorite images from the winners of three major underwater photography contests: UPY 2025, DPG Masters 2024, and Ocean Art 2024.

The following contest categories were discussed at length:

  • DPG Masters: Macro, Wide, Black & White, Conservation, Blackwater, Traditional, Over-Unders.
  • Ocean Art: Macro, Wide, Black & White, Conservation, Blackwater, Portrait, Behaviour.
  • UPY: Macro, Wide, Black & White, Conservation, Portrait, Behaviour, Wrecks.

Understanding how contests are judged can help you refine your strategy for next year’s competitions. That’s why our speakers started off by offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on how the top images were selected (Alex was Chair of the Jury for UPY 2025, while Nicolas chaired DPG Masters 2024).

As with all TUC webinars, the session wrapped-up with a live Q&A session.
