Have you ever dreamt of swimming with whales? In May 2024, Vanessa Mignon, gave a 2h20 minutes info-packed talk where she explained where and how to photograph humpback whales, dwarf minke whales, southern wright wales and sperm whales.
Vanessa is one of the worlds’s most experienced and multi-awarded whale photographers. She has been swimming with whales for the last 15 years and has led numerous small-group trips, to encounter and photograph the gentle giants with her.

Meet your speaker
Vanessa Mignon is one of the worlds’s most experienced and multi-awardedwhale photographers. Humpback whales, dwarf minke whales, southern right wales and sperm whales, Vanessa has photographed them all, and she has guided dozens of underwater image-makers do the same, for the last 15 years!
The list of Vanessa’s awards would be too long to publish here, but she notably won categories in the prestigious OGPICOTY (Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year) in 2023, 2020 and 2011, and received placings in between.
One of her main focuses is conservation and she hopes her photography and experience sharing can inspire others and increase people’s awareness of how diverse and beautiful nature is, and how essential it is to protect it. Vanessa was awarded the 2015 IFAW Animal Action Award – Marine photographer of the year, in recognition for her work and efforts to promote conservation and raise awareness. She was recently appointed as Marelux‘s Lianson Officer for Marine Conservation.
