About accomodation, most dive shops and hotels/resorts are independent, and our dive shop (Thresher Shark Divers) didn’t have any particular hotel ties.
We had heard plenty of good things about Malapascua before our trip, but tasty food wasn’t in that list, so we chose to stay at Angelina Beach Resort, and italian restaurant which has a few hotel rooms, boutique style. The food was outstanding (we dined in other places too) but the creme de la creme was their breakfast options, including perfectly brewed cappuccinos on offer. Besides, they’re located on the south-western tip of Malapascua, that’s about 300m walk from our dive center but it’s also a healthy distance from the night life.
Note the shark dives tend to leave very early (meeting time for us was 05:45am) so we’d miss on cappuccinos then, but our hotel offered to pack yummy sandwiches for us which was a nice touch.
