I too prefer the second photo, and I recommend you’d untick colour profile corrections from your default import options.
Indeed, Lightroom offers 2 corrections:
1/ Barrel distorsion
2/ Chromatic aberration
More often than not I wouldn’t want to apply #1, as it gets rid of the fisheye effect that we – UW shooters – have grown to love. It plays a big role in how fisheye photos “pop”. Besides, that sort of correction makes you lose parts of the image (on the sides).
I can’t point a specific scenario when removing chromatic aberrations would have detrimental effects… as long as the software gets it right. But what if you have some prominent backlighting effect (natural or artificial light), how might Lightroom affect/change that? I prefer ticking that chromatic aberration box selectively, once I am finished editing a photo, and only if I notice any colour fringing.
