Hi Murray, I really like the photo you’ve included to illustrate your argument because, even though the frogfish doesn’t instantly jump out, in working out what is happening here it highlights the amazing camouflage, which for me is more wonderful. I think we are pressured by social media to generate photos that are instantly recognizable/likable.
Having said that, another reason I like to unnaturally highlight a creature (eg using a snoot or side lighting on a frogfish) is to highlight a particular feature, such as the hairy appendages.
