Hi Richard and welcome to The Underwater Club!

I really like the composition of your spiny devilfish, nicely off-centered, and the position of its dorsal fin/spine (a defining feature) also works well, pointing the viewer towards the inside of the frame.

Your snoot light created a useful contrast with the background, and I’d personally build on that when editing.

My suggestion: try lower the exposure, which would bring the fish back to mid-tones (for now it’s too bright) and the background nearly black.

I think a black background would really suit this devil/evil fish, so if exposure shift doesn’t do the trick, I’d do a mask on the background (hopefully lightroom will do this automatically) and dial it down further.

There’s a patch of sand/weed just below the fish (centered in the frame) which you may have to selectively dial-down.

    Tell us how you go!
