Here we go – For May’s challenge, I used an actual egg and something egg-shaped. I wanted to experiment with different light positions to create mood, texture and the interplay of light and shadow. Some images are front, 45 degrees, 90 degrees, and backlighting. I wanted to create multiple sequences of “egg-shaped” ovals to complement the real egg shape. In some images, there are 4-5 supporting oval shapes. I was surprised by how very light my small torch was that I used for back lighting. I need to try it UW. Light placement certainly affected the shapes that could be created and the overall mood of the image. I guess my Favorite would be 9329, the egg on the clam shell from a very low position.
Technically – All images SOOC, no image development at all. Nikon D850 – 60mm lens – lighting Big Blue torch 750 lumens with 50mm restrictor/snoot. Mostly created at 400 ISO F8 and SS 60-400
Thanks, Elana, for an interesting challenge that pushed my thinking and my understanding of how critical light placement is in creating mood, shadows, and the overall feel of the image. Some nice takeaways for my UW imagery.
