Hi everyone, we are now wrapping up our very first April 2026 challenge. A big thank you to everyone who jumped into this first challenge. It was great to see such a strong mix of approaches to using backlighting for subject separation — from subtle glow to bold silhouettes, and everything in between. What stood out most wasn’t just the final images, but the thinking behind them — people experimenting with light placement, adapting to conditions, and sharing what worked (and what didn’t). That’s exactly the point of these challenges.
We’ll be selecting a few submissions to showcase on Instagram — I will reach out directly before sharing anything.
Looking ahead:
May is a different kind of challenge — less about light, more about how you see.
We’ll be working with one subject, multiple ways — pushing beyond the first obvious shot and exploring how much variety you can create when you stay with the same subject a little longer.
