Seeing the same subject with both backlight and front light really shows the exact advantage of backlighting so clearly. The added depth, separation, and the way it reveals the translucence of the shrimp is a perfect example of why this technique is so effective.

I also love that you included the trial-and-error side of it, because that’s the real process behind shots like these.

And coming from a photographer of your level, it’s especially generous to share not just the finished result, but the thinking and experimentation behind it. A brilliant and very valuable contribution to the thread.
