Hello @nico, sorry for the delay!

I use the Backscatter M52 Underwater 120° Wide Angle Lens on my PT059 housing. I quite like it but over the years, the lens has accummulated quite a few scratches. I had one in the past which got destroyed by leatherjacket bite marks (I didn’t realise the fish was actually biting, I thought it was just trying to intimidate our group, I had my focus on something else entirely then and by the time I realised, it was too late) and my partner also has one that does show quite a few scratches. But I am not actually sure how that would compare to other type of wet lenses, as I have not owed others.

I did a bit of research into this, and from my understanding, unlike domes on housings for SLRs, one can’t actually ‘erase’ scratches because of the coating on the lens, which is disappointing given these lenses are not cheap. My gut feeling is that this would be a problem for all wet lenses, but I am not 100% sure. Because I am on a budget, I just ‘suck it up’ and try to remove the few scratches I can see postprocessing and that does the trick for now.

Here are a few sample images from recent times around Melbourne and Tassie. Hope this helps!
