G’day Nicolas
T
I am still getting used to using them. I am only using 1 strobe to get used to managing the lighting. They seemed to work well in minimising backscatter with my 105mm lens, but not so easily with my 60mm. I think I may have been a bit overambitious and optimistic. Anyway, lots of informative image feedback. I do think I need to adapt more to the conditions, avoid the black water background, and focus on subject/images that have some subject of substrate that hides the backscatter. I do like the ATOM focus light with them, I was really able to feather the light at the very edge of the beam with some images yesterday, 5mtr vis and lots of particulate in the water. I have added some sample images, only exposure adjustment, no cleanup. One of the blotched Hawkfish really does show the backscatter strobe was above the camera @ 45degrees. I think I need to get closer, much tighter and really move the strobes very close to utilise the narrower directional light.
Thanks so much for your feedback, I know they will make a huge difference to my UW photography that at the moment is very targeted around light, form, and textures.
Cheers, Ian
