I found this to be a really good summary of what I’ve learned over several years of shooting macro and close-focus wide angle with the TG-6. One of the key challenges with this camera is maximizing the battery life. The article lists all of the functions you can turn off. The more the better! Currently I can reliably get 2 dives out of my battery. Another trick that isn’t listed is setting the internal flash assuming you are in manual and using a fiber optic cable to trigger your strobe. The article suggests using “Fill Flash,” which will work. However, you can reduce the power consumption further by setting the internal flash on 1/64. I’ve seen that mentioned by others and it works well for me (Backscatter MF2 strobe). Easy to try out on land before you dive with it.
Also – see Nicholas’ post in this forum asking for input from those using an accessory wide-angle lens with the TG-6/7. I’m really hoping to get some guidance.
