I am very pleased to say The Underwater Club’s 2027 Fiji trip is now open for bookings!
The plan in a nutshell:
- 7 nights / 6 days of diving, staying at VoliVoli resort: http://volivoli.com/
- 12 participants
- 16 boat dives: 2 or 3 per day, then unlimited shore diving. By boat, we’ll visit some of the most photogenic (and healthy) coral reefs I’ve been given to see. The shore dives are more about macro and fish portraits.
- On dive days, I’ll give a photography talk to take your push your wide-angle skills up and make the most of the Fijian reefs (i can run a couple of side classes around macro/snooting if there’s interest). After dinner we’ll get together for photo critiques, so you know how to take better images each day.
- All meals included a-la-carte, and the food at VoliVoli is AMAZING (frenchman speaking).
- There is one evening where we’ll have a Meke (traditional Fijian performance) accompanied by a Fijian cuisine buffet dinner. It was very entertaining and great vibe when I was there. That particular evening there will be no photo talk but we’ll still do photo critiques (feedback is essential so your photography gets better every day of the trip).
Why I am choosing to return to VoliVoli and why that time of the year (beg-August):
- Some reefs are absolutely pristine and covered with healthy colours as far as the eye can see.
- The topography is highly photogenic: drop-offs, pinnacles, walls, swim throughs.
- We’ll have the best visibility of the year, often reaching 40 meters / 120 ft, which makes it easier to backscatter-free shots full with colours.
- We’ll have only 4 photographers per guide, who I’ll have trained on photography so they can model for you.
- Those who want to go self-guided (as a buddy-pair) can do, after demonstrating sufficient experience.
