Hi Chris. I find your photo striking. While many underwater photographers’ blackout or mostly hide the background I like the challenge of having viewers struggle just a bit to “discover” the subject amidst its natural camouflage. It’s a delicate balance between losing the subject in the background and depriving the viewer of the opportunity to “discover” the subject. I suggest you experiment with different ways to subtly have the subject emerge a little more strongly from the background. One thing I would try is using LR to mask the subject (likely using the Object or Brush tools) and then using the “Duplicate and Invert Mask” function to select the background. You might try brightening or sharpening the subject and/or dimming or blurring the background to make the subject stand out just a little more. Thanks for sharing.
