Hello George, I’ve just done my first trip using the new weefine pro monitor which i had some input in with the design. This monitor has a much thicker hdmi cable than the previous generation and are often grabbed by boat crew when handing up the camera onto a boat so always seem to break so this big upgrade by weefine is essential.

The next think that was improved was the screen. sometimes we shoot in shallow conditions so we need a bright screen and now the new weefine has a 3000 nit screen.

There are also some additional features such as zebras, focus peaking and false colour avaliable but i find the most helpful feature is being able to adjust your screen. I have mine placed on a 45 degree angle to enable me to look down on my camera set up. This enables you to get shots very close to the corals or sediment without having to get close yourself, its easier to do shots looking up and i often find myself a lot more aware when using a monitor.

Now you also mention the kraken which is also a great option but as youve probably seen from the images the battery is large making the whole monitor a lot bigger. I think its worth figuring if you are going to be doing 2+ hour dives using the monitor to justify the extra size.

I would finally say its worth going for a monitor over a recorder/monitor like a ninja V because the cost and huge size and extra maintanence of these. I love the compact size of the weefine 5 pro in comparison and think its a worth while investment to help you see and compose your shots a lot better and nail that focus a lot more frequently.
