    Thanks for raising this topic! Using viewfinders has been the norm since DSLR times amongst stills shooters, but with mirrorless cameras, we really have a choice, and there are good reasons to pick an external monitor.

    I’ve been meaning to try for a while, and my reasons are:

    => Easier framing with subjects positioned in tricky spots.

    => Ability to frame while still keeping an eye on what’s happening around (good for seals, dolphins, etc)

    => Much easier split shots.

    => (maybe) extend the camera’s battery life.

    If all goes to plan, i’ll be experimenting with a monitor over the next few months and i’ll happily share my thoughts, but so far I don’t have first hand experience, hopefully other members can chip in?

    I’ll tag @jacobguymedia who uses a monitor (Weefine?) for his videography, and shoots stills too, he might have thoughts to share.
