Your shot has a lovely colour palette, and does what CFWA does best: showcase how an animal fits in its immediate environment.
These images work best when carrying a sense of depth, which you achieved by showing the surface details behind.
I too feel the eye is a little soft, it feels like the depth of field really starts from the fins and back.
One tip for CFWA (see the module in our Wide Angle course for details): close down your aperture more than regular wide-angle. Strobe power won’t be a problem since you are very close.
