    I’ve been thinking about this, and whether there could be a systematic/data-driven process that someone with eyesight deficiency (in terms of colour) could follow to detect that an image carries a colour cast, but I haven’t found it!

    Lightroom Classic’s histogram actually displays 4 histograms (overlayed): red/green/blue channels, and combined (grey). One could thing this may provide clues as to whether one colour is over-represented.

    I tried this on a couple of my photos but couldn’t persuade myself: you do see the colour histograms change as you voluntarily skew colours, but if you have say a yellow cast, it doesn’t match with one RGB channels, so it isn’t that evident…

    One way we detect colour casts by looking at familiar references, and comparing the colour we see with what we have memorised as “being normal”. Underwater I use sand, but depending where you dive you can find white sand, yellow-ish sand… not a perfect standard either. There are subjects whose colours are well known though, for example most sharks have a white/neutral belly. If it looks green it ain’t right!
