Hey @chrismiles , yesterday I had my first (night) dive with your snoot adapters and enjoyed shooting them!

This was with the EMWL 100 degrees objective lens, and I also took a Backscatter MF2 for some side-by-side comparison.

Option 1 (first photo): lit with HF1 (full power) +ChrisMiles’s snoot adapter + OS1 snoot.

Option 2( 2nd photo): lit with MF2 (full power)+OS1 snoot

It takes a +0.8 EV exposure boost so the second shot matches the first one, so I am guessing the HF1 option is only 0.5-1.0 Fstop brighter. This makes sense, as a fair bit of light is lost prior to reaching the optical sections of the snoot.

I did notice that the snoot beam was smaller with the option 1, probably because the OS1 snoot ends up being closer to the subject, when the strobe arms are mounted at the same distance (see photo where the 2 strobes’s ball mounts are next to each other).

Overall, having Chris’ adapter + a OS1 snoot is a very usable solution to snoot with the HF1, thanks a million Chris!!

In fact, I quite liked shooting with the adapters on their own, using them as light reduction rings, they made it easy to create some directional light (single strobe), and limit backscatter, while still delivering lots of oomph.
