Chris!
Yes! My husband and I JUST returned from a long weekend in West Palm Beach! The bridge is fantastic! Octopi galore- some just out bee-bopping along, really neat blennies, jawfish, batfish (one particularly huge batfish), mantis shrimp, lobster, and a ton of arrowhead crab (one of the biggest I’ve ever seen). Crowded on the weekend and parking can be a bear then too. I’m sure you’re tracking on tides and everything but on the weekends people arrive at the park HOURS before ideal diving time. So, if you can go, grab a parking spot, then walk somewhere for a bite to eat to bide some time.
ANYWAY, our dives at the bridge were almost 2 hours (max depth 14’ for us) and water temp was a surprisingly chilly 79 degrees- especially nearing the end of the dive. I’m usually cold but with a 3mm and hood held my own much better than I did without the hood. But the dives were great and were a very relaxed atmosphere. You’ll love it!
We booked a dive with a photo guide at the bridge through Pura Vida Divers down there (and then went back to the bridge a few days later with a local friend). Had a great experience and the dive shop is well stocked with just about anything you could need (these are few and far between up here). Needless to say, we stocked up! 🤣 We were also due to do a blackwater dive with them but were blown out. 😞 Hoping it stays calm for you! May is supposed to be a great time to do it there!
Who are you shark diving with?! We went with Xela Expeditions. Fantastic crew! I knew the deck hand through the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy up in Cape Cod so was really happy to connect with her again. No tigers or hammers but a wealth of bull sharks and a beautiful day on the water!
People are incredibly nice there too! I’ve become slightly jaded living in the DC area so it was really refreshing!
Hope you have a fantastic time!
Safe travels!
