Personally I’ve always reached Manado from Singapore via Scoot, and never experienced a schedule change. However I don’t like their limit of 40kg checked lugguage (maximum even if you pay extra). I got stung once on the way back with excess charges and it wasn’t pretty 🙂
If I can, I always prefer to stay clear of Lion Air, they are one of these low cost carriers with a sub-par safety track record. That said, plenty of passengers board off their aircrafts unscathed.
I am liking more and more flying with Garuda Indonesia, they’re a full service carrier offering a free +23kg bag for dive equipment, all you need to do is open the bag and show the dive gear at check-in (yep, housings & strobes count as dive gear). They’ve never weighed my carry-ons either, which is a good thing as I am often 12kg+.
However, I did experience an annoying schedule change once with them (Jakarta to Sorong).
