Whilst this goes a little wider than Jo’s original question, see attached the guidelines provided by Chloë Harvey, Executive Director of The Reef-World Foundation—the international coordinator of the Green Fins initiative.
This was given to jury members of the ADEX VOO 2025 photo competition, to guide us in assessing entries from an ethical point of view.
I don’t fully agree with #4, I feel chumming/feeding can be done sustainably (i.e. not making marine life depend on it), and without it some species of sharks simply couldn’t be photographed. Sharks need all the (positive) publicity we can get them, and need to be worth more alive than dead. My point of view anyways, up for debate 🙂
