Hey @billkuiper
Am I recognising Brian from SCUDA on the boat?
This is a great first attempt, especially knowing you were hanging in mid water and the ocean was probably not like a pond.
Couple of thoughts:
-Good exposure of both top & bottom sides
-Good subject choice, you have subject matter both above and below the water line. Both are needed for an interesting split shots, and this one tells a story.
-However, you now need both bottom & top sides subjects to behave, double trouble! When doing that type of photo, I’d ask a buddy to model for me prior to climbing back on the boat (so they are not cut).
-I really don’t mind a non-flat surface line, depending on the shape. You can get more pleasant surface lines than this one though (try burst shooting).
Because all this is quite hard, I’d recommend you try and practice from the shore, possibly standing on the sand (no fins) on a protected area where the surface is really flat. It will be much easier to achieve top splits this way.
Keep them coming!
