    I definitely agree with the fish likely being a Fingered Dragonet but also consider the Long Filament Dragonet.(I’m also looking at the 2nd edition of Tropical Pacific Reef Fish Identification.) I looked at some google images of the Fingered Dragonet and saw some for sale for as much as $120! Most didn’t have the same distinctive blue coloration, but some did. The variation in coloration isn’t surprising. It’s a tough call without being able to see the full dorsal body and tail. Interestingly Dragonets span a number of different Genus. The Fingered Dragonet is Dactylopus and the Long Filament Dragonet is Callionymus. Also, thanks fo rthe recommendation on Dr. Smith’s book – I’ll be looking at getting a copy to read.
