    I think @billkuiper is right! I’m looking in the Reef Fish Identification- Tropical Pacific, 2nd Edition and then googling. It looks like it’s a Fingered Dragonet of the male variety. Very cool looking critter you found! Those blue spots are insane! Think he’s trying to mimic a certain octopus? 🧐

    If you’re looking for a great book, Dr. Richard Smith talks about “Bayesian mimicry” in his book The World Beneath: The Life and Times of Unknown Sea Creatures and Coral Reefs. It’s a great read and really informative. His descriptions of pygmy seahorse shenanigans are the best! 😂 If you haven’t read it yet, check it out!
