These are pretty good results, considering that you were using less-than-ideal equipment.
I am assuming your AOI wide-lens can be removed underwater – meaning you have water in between a flat port and the rear of the lens. Curious if you managed to keep the area between the 2 optics full of water (some people have used tape, orings…) when lifting up your rig for splits? This is the main challenge with wet lenses.
Truth be told, I have taken a number of split shots with a small dome too (4 inches // 100mm wide) and I am reasonably happy with these. The challenge is managing the surface, which I do by shooting 10 frames per second… but that only works for amblient-light only shots. If using strobes, I am using a lower FPS rate, and get much less keepers.
I’d love to see more member split shots attempt + the gear they used in this post!
