This is a good way to gauge the “weight” of a contest, in terms of how much it grows your photographer profile, if this matters to you (I know some entrants are really just about the prizes ;)).
You can look at the number of media who publish a news/article, but also consider how much they’re praising & promoting the winning shots. Too often I see media only relaying the category winners and a standard press pack on the contest. Some editors will make the effort to pick their very favorite shots and/or dive deeper in the results.
