I’ll have to check out last years video, I wasn’t a member back then.
This image has done very well for me winning and placing even in regional competitions.
Looking back on this conversation about similar images placing or not placing, I was sure that “just another lizardfish picture” wasn’t going to go very far, so to be different I decided to turn it 90 degrees and pick one of the series that had focus on the prey fish.
I found it interesting that during a portfolio review I was coached by a famous photographer named after a condiment that they would strongly consider not rotating the image 90 degrees. I had entered this image in a fair number of competitions both as awarded and as shot, but so far have only had success with the rotated image. Normally I would have followed their instruction to the letter but in this case I am happy to have followed through with my interpretation.
