    Hi Bill,

    The seadragon is nice and sharp, and I like how it stands out from the background, which still remains visible.

    To get more impact with the same subject/lens (I am guessing you were with a macro lens), I’d recommend getting yourself at eye level or slightly lower than then dragon, and move yourself towards the right (looking back towards the left) so that the dragon appears to be swimming slightly into the camera – this would make the photo more engaging.

    You could push it further and try get a facing portrait of the dragon, try a few angles and see what you like.

    Then, depending on the dragon’s position, you’ll get various backgrounds (kelp, sponges, blue water…) – experiment with these and keep shooting, as the negative space can bring a lot of visual appeal.
