That’s a lovely subject, and I like that it’s framed alongside a diagonal, from a composition standpoint.
I wish the lighting was more consistent across the nudi: at the moment its face is darker than the rhinophores. Whilst you might be able to correct that in post-processing, here are a couple of ideas to explore:
Idea 1: Go to wide mode, pull your video light further away, so that the whole nudi and its surroundings are evenly lit.
When you do that though, the nudi might be “lost” in the reef. To help it stand out, try and go low, shooting at “eye” level as much as you can, so you get some water background behind (see the lesson “Get Close / Get down” in intro course).
Idea 2: go for a full blown snoot shot, where you’re isolating the nudi from the reef, by making anything that’s not lit black.
For this, you will need either the Backscatter OS-1 snoot to attach on your MW4300 (it will concentrate & narrow down the beam), or use another video light that is narrow natively (Steve discussed a couple of options in the webinar).
