Hi Nicolas, big congrats on your (many) recent successes! They will be lucky to have you as a judge.
1. I am a fan of making the photographer utilise the camera settings, with minimal edits afterwards. Of course the usual contrast, colour correction, minor alterations to exposure etc are expected, but I really liked the challenge in e.g. World Shootout that meant you couldn’t crop the image below 85% of its original size. It made most of the shots I had taken at that time ineligible for decent framing, and it made me work harder as a photographer.
Generative AI can be a fun and interesting tool, but I would love photography competitions to focus on the skill of the photographer rather than on editing.
Perhaps a separate category for more freedom with editing if there is significant interest in it? Perhaps there may be other competitions more suited to a high degree of AI use?2. Just my opinion, I’m not a fan of live baiting. I’m sure that having to declare it would influence the judges.
