    Ciao @egopfe ,

I recommend a fairly wide white beam, 60 degrees or more, and yes, you definitely want to a red light mode if you’re doing any night dives.

The auto shut off is useful but in my view not mandatory: as long as your focus light isn’t too bright, it will be over-powered by the strobe light.

Leading to brightness: I mostly run my Sola Photo 1200 light at its lowest brightness, ie 300 lm (it has a 60 degrees beam) which limits disturbance to marine life and dive buddies. I only increase it to 600lm if the visibility drops and I want to see a bit further.

I’d happily do without a snoot function. It would be useful for video or backlighting a stills photo, but for backlighting you might as well get a cheap/simple torch with narrow beam, doubling up as a backup light.

This led me to using a Sola Photo 1200 as my main focus light, which I bought 4 years ago only because my old Sola Photo 600 had given up.

I’d be curious to see what other members are using, and any pros & cons they noted.
