I like how this has edited up. I’ve seen a few images like this – sometimes pipefish – where the eye is in focus and the mouth and background have bokeh. I took one with a similar vibe of a lizardfish years ago. I wanted more sharpness on the teeth so I used a sharpening brush in Lightroom to make them pop a bit more and they wound up even sharper than the eyes: https://pinktankscuba.com/2023/10/12/gallery-awards/#jp-carousel-161

It might come down to personal preference of whoever’s looking at it as to whether they find it engaging or distracting, but I think it can show the personality of the animal from a different perspective.
