Not sure what camera you’re shooting on @johnvila , but the SC Macro (Smart Control) mode is good on Sony, Olympus and OM systems for auto adjusting the power emitted for macro shots (not that I remembered to use it when I should have!)
Initially for other camera systems a bit of adjustment is needed on camera settings and strobe positioning for macro. Like you said, I think it’s just the teething period we all go through with new gear.
I only did 17 dives back to back in Palau with a single Hybrid but thought there was so much to like about it! Such a good allrounder!
