Hi all — a quick report on the Hybrid Flash MF1 – had them out quite a few times now. Overall very happy – power to burn, long battery life, easy controls. I have done both WA and Macro. They are quite a bit heavier than my old Inons but the addition of extra floats on the second arm segment have eliminated any problem. I am not a fan of the colour rendition for WA and using the included flat diffuser (6300k) I found the shots a bit cool and lacking contrast, relatively easy fix in post processing. I will try the warmer diffusers once they arrive here.

The recycle time for macro is very quick – no problems at all shooting multiple exposures on anything from the lowest setting to 1/4 power. On Saturday I had a great opportunity to photograph a False Stone fish (Devil scorpion fish) and I was very happy with the lighting, particularly being able to catch multiple exposures when the yawn came!

One observation, and maybe you can coach me here Nicolas — at large apertures there was too much power at the lowest settings – I was trying for bokeh at f 6.3, iso 64 and shutter 1/250 (max sync). I was overexposed by 1 1/2 stops at the lowest setting. Options here ? Use exposure compensation?

Attached a couple of sample shots for macro.

    Overall very happy with them
