Sometimes you don’t get a choice: Facebook may consider that you are promoting a business, because you’ve included links to your website in some posts.
Then you’re left with either boost of remain unseen, but I agree you can stay clear if not having business goal.
Nowadays, I believe FB/Insta are also adjusting your reach based on how frequently you post: say you usually point twice a week (which I used to do), then paused for 2 weeks due to some travel, when you return, reach is disminished.
