I think it worked really well as a light-shaping device (making the light beam tighter/more controllable), look at all that crisp texture and 3D-effect on the scorpionfish, great eye contact too!

Did you use two strobes (one snoot each), pointed towards the fish?

I’d try & reduce some of the highlights: bottom corners + lips.

I am not sure about whether to darken the sand on the back, it does provide context without being too distractive.

Curious to hear what others think 🙂
