    Hi Frederico,

I’m not a tek diver and definitely not at your level of dive complexity and skill. Keeping a basic photography setup simple and easy to manipulate is very important to help take better pictures. Any source of frustration needs to be eliminated. When entering and exiting the water, especially on rocks, I keep my camera clipped up high on my torso, using the D ring at the top of my BCD. This reduces the probability of the camera smashing on the rocks or the side of the boat. I keep the camera close to my face which I will instinctively protect (the elastic tether to prevent the camera floating way is clipped to the low D ring, but it supports no weight). I did two night dives the past month and I used my video light as the main dive light. The video light is attached to the camera rig and also serves as a powerful focus light. My dive torch is kept as a backup in my BCD pocket. I don’t think it would be practical to hold the camera in one hand and a dive torch in the other. I even use the video light when entering and exiting on rocks in the dark. The camera rig is clipped up against my upper torso and I rotate the video light until it points downwards in front of me, so I can see the rocks and not blind other divers. My aim is to keep configurations as simple as possible, and even then it is usually too complicated. How can one take great pictures if one is constantly fighting the complexity of one’s rig? You probably know all off this.
