What’s next?
Besides a strong composition, there are 2 key factors to the success of your underwater photos, and they are specific to underwater photography.
Firstly, you need to get close and get down to the subject level. This will give you best results for the vast majority of underwater subjects. It is so important that I have dedicated a short lesson to elaborate on this, with examples.
Secondly, your lighting is essential. The most elegant composition will fail if it’s not supported by adequate lighting, for example if the light is too harsh or reveals too much backscatter. I recommend the Lighting Course, to master the use of underwater lights. If you’re not familiar the with exposure controls on your camera, you might want to head to the Underwater Camera Settings Course first.Â
